Hi All!
This is my first post.
I have made it on suggestion of a dear friend (babaz from the italian doom9 project).

I've started a project on my site: it's about Mpeg 2 and 4 quality comparison analisys.
My final idea is to apply six sigma parameters to codecs capabilities.

The project consists of 5 (general) points.

1) Analyze the structure of the original MPEG2 stream in GOPs structure

2) Analyze the structure of the original MPEG2 stream about bitrate and quantizers

3) Compare the original stream (referring to point 1 and 2) to the ancoded MPEG4 DivX file.
Analizing the DRF output and the 2nd pass (mainly, but I want to make it with other encoding methods) log file.

4) Define increasing or decreasing coding quality of DivX Codec (from 5.0.2 up to 5.1) referring to the original stream.

5) Define (a little utopic...) a new standard of encoding settings related to the original stream before DivX encoding.

If You're interested in working on it (or if you want more details) please follow this link (only the thread header is in italian language):

If not ignore.
I'm just starting the project so I'm looking for ideas, suggestions and a lot of good will!! :)

I've just published MPEG2 pharsing files.

Bye
