Hi folks. I've searched and read and downloaded and tried many "one-click" transcoders. I've only found one (InterVideo's CopyDVD) which allows me to select titles, and *within* titles, specific chapters - in addition to the regular features of selecting audio streams, and subtitles. However, it doesn't allow me to de-select the menu. I was hoping to find something faster and easier to use than DVD2DVD-R; without suffering too much loss in visual quality and playback. Do any other one-clickers allow the optionial de-selection of specific chapters with a specific title? Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

DVDShrink has that ability to some extent.

When you reauthor a title, you can set a start and end chapter. By placing a title several times with different starts and ends, you can include or exclude anything you want. You can even selectively set the compression ratio for each start/end.

The only down side as far as I'm concerned is that each start/end becomes a separate title.

webwonk,

You can easily do movie only with InterVideo DVDCopy. You just have to rip movie only with DVD Decrypter and use this as input to DVDCopy.

Yeah, I've used InterVideo, DVDCopy Platinum 1.2 after ripping from DVD Decrypter 3.1.7.0 as an ISO - however, DVDCopy doesn't allow you to *exclude* the menu like CloneDVD does (although it doesn't allow select/de-selection of Chapters). Normally I use DVD2DVD-R 1.7.1 - even with single-layer DVD's - because I don't like all the extras; even if they'll fit. That includes the menu (I hate all those cut scenes).

I'd like the ability to:
1.) choose one or more titles
a.) within the title(s) select chapter(s)
2.) select which audio stream(s) and subtitle(s) to include in the title(s) I've selected.
3.) Include VOB's from other sources (InterVideo DVDCopy has an option to do this)
3.) optionally choose to include the original DVD's menu with options removed (i.e. exlude titles not written to target DVD-R) or remove menu altogether and just rely upon title ordering and the navigation buttons on the set-top DVD player's remote.

I'd like to make these decisions even before I address re-encoding or transcoding.

Convert PAL DVD-9 and PAL DVD-5 to DVD-R

Anyone "one-click" option out there to do that?

Thanks for any info.

DVDShrink will do 1, 1a, 2 and 3a pretty directly (though 1a is indirectly supported if you want more than one contiguous range of chapters). That is what reauthor mode is for.

The second part of 3b is supported too - since that's just a restatement of 1 (playing titles in order). Shrink doesn't support the first part of 3b (selectively removing menus or parts of a menu) at all.

There is also MenuEdit (don't get confused by the name). It just works somewhat different - instead of putting together what you like, it will (among other things) remove pieces you don't like. DvdStripper works same way.
