hey all,

i've just started authoring dvds and i'm a total beginner and i was hoping htat someone here can help me out . . . (and i hope this is in the right forum)

well here's my situation . . . i've authored a dvd but i forgot to put one thing in the proper order . . . the dvd boots up and goes through 2 intro movies, but i accidentally set it so that the main movie plays first instead of the main menu . . . it wouldn't be so much of a problem if i had my adobe encore source files but i've deleted them already :P . . .

would there be any way to reauthor/edit the order so that after the two intros, the dvd goes to my main menu first? i've looked through the forums but i just can't follow some of the things that's been posted (sorry for the n00b-ness :P) . . .

anyways i hope for some feedback on this . . . thanks in advanced :)

Hi and welcome--

This is one of those "borderline" questions that starts with, "Where do I post it?" Understand the noob feeling and there is not a problem. This question is helpful anywhere.

There is a way and there is a learning curve. Once you're past the learning curve, you will probably say, "That was easy," but the learning curve is first.

What you will have to do is edit the command structure of your titleset. IFO Edit is a powerful tool that enables you to do this and then preview your work to check the navigation. It is available in the Doom9 Download Section (http://www.doom9.org). One of the forum members, maa, has a guide, here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=58791), that, although it doesn't quite fit what you're doing, gives you some really good info on editing commands. Additionally, I would recommend that you "lurk" on "IFO/VOB Edit" forum and check out some of 2COOL's guides and cheat sheets. All of these references are intended to get you using IFO Edit and learning the basics of a DVD command structure. Another member, Lord of the Discs, has a really good website with basic information. Search for his name here in the forum and you will find a link to his site at the bottom of any of his posts.

This is probably enough to get you started. Let us know how things go. I predict that you will have a few  questions. :D
