When test running my DVDs in WinDVD, if I try to go to the Main Menu, it freezes up. Is this an error in the authoring? It didn't used to do this.

I can't try with PowerDVD since I don't know how to get it to accept a DVD on a harddrive, so ditching WinDVD isn't going to do my any good.

you should have an option to 'load dvd files from hard drive...' when you click the 'select source' button on the powerdvd panel.

How are you opening your DVD in WinDVD?

I find the best approach (actually, the only approach I know of that works) is creating a VIDEO_TS directory off the root of my hard drive (C:\VIDEO_TS), putting all the IFO and VOB files in that directory, then selecting my hard drive in the WinDVD properties dialog box.

Alternatively you can use ImageTools to create an ISO image, mount the image using daemon tools, then play the mounted image in WinDVD.

I use both approaches frequently, and I've never had any problems (at least, none that weren't *real* problems with the DVD).
