Twice now I have tried to encode a 90-min movie AVI to an authored DVD using the MF2 SE which came with my Pioneer DVR-A06U. The video is fine, if a bit jumpy on pans. (I assume that's from less-than-best handling of the 24->30 fps issue.) Both times, the audio is fine up to a certain point in the movie. After that, the audio jumps back to an earlier part of the movie, while the video keeps playing normally. In the output folder, desides the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS subfolders, there's a hidden _vfc.chk (recovered file fragments) file. This happened on both attempts.
Here's the kicker: I have encoded this movie previously to 2 SVCDs, and the audio problem happens right around the same place where the 1st SVCD ends. My speculation is that MF2 is crapping out internally due to an SVCD calculation/limit finding its way into DVD conversion. Any help, suggestions or comments? I find nothing on this issue at Ulead's website. I imagine splitting the AVI is a workaround, but the whole idea of using a one-shot tool is convenience at the expense of ultimate quality. Thanks.
Edit: One last note: I used LPCM audio on the 1st attempt and MPEG2 on the 2nd. No help, or change.
