The XviD forum seems to be host for XviD, ffdshow, ffvfw and other related opensource MPEG-4 encoder/decoder discussions. My suggestion then is:

XviD, FFMPEG et al

or

Opensource MPEG4 Codecs

Makes it clearer where to post. Since it could also seem implied that ffdshow/ffvfw would belong in "New AV Formats - Codecs" as they don't have their own forum, though it's generally accepted that they belong in the XviD forum, while they're not even related to XviD (ffmpeg was made from scratch (or from some long-since-vanished-from-the-source reference implementation) afaik, and XviD was made from OpenDivX. (Yes I know OpenDivX was also based on some long-since-vanished-from-the-source-reference implementation, namely MoMuSys.)

I agree, I think 'Opensource MPEG-4' would be a good title, with the subtitle XviD, ffdshow, ffvfw, etc.

Yeah. FFMPEG and related software have come a long way. So much so I think Doom9 might have to give it a shot in the next codec shootout. I have really been digging on ffmpeg lately.

neo: I need ffvfw options / preset for that to happen

I am sure that would not be a dificult thing to achieve general concensus on. :D

actually, we've decided against changing the name.. and ffvfw will have to be discussed in the new a/v formats forum in the future. We feel that the XviD forum is big enough to really warrant to stay alone.
