I'm making a decision on whether to buy dvdlab. I hear it's a great program. I own a panny e100 and want to create nice fancy moving thumbail menus anlong w/ transitions between certain scenes in my weddding movie. Someone told me that dvdlabs offers transitions. I read the online manual and noticed that they offer transtions between menus and they never mentioned scenes. Anyone know if they offer transitions between scenes w/o re-encoding. Thanks

As far as I know dvdlab doesn't, you would have to re-encode/edit entire movie together to have the transition you want.

or

You would have to split your movie in 2 parts to do this:
Import pt1 (movie1), if you have a transition (clip) import it (movie2),then import pt2 (movie3). Connect pt1 to your transition and then connect that to pt2. (movie1-movie2-movie3) Everything would run as one movie. However, the movie would actually have 3 titles (pt1, transition, pt2). If you have 5 chapters in pt1, then transition, and 5 chapters in pt2, some standalones won't allow to advance back (prev chptr) once your on a new title. Or, they would advance you back to the first chptr of the title, instead of the one you just viewed.
If you have multiple transitions, you would have to split your movie multiple times.

After all that work it would be easier if you just reencode/edit your movie w/transitions.

DVD Lab itself, as mudda_t says, is not an editor. You can, as mudda_t suggests, get transitions by returning parts of your movie to menus and using the transition function. However, Mediachance, has teamed up with Pure Motion and the two companies are offering a bundled package of DVD Lab and Edit Studio. Both softwares have thirty day trials.
