View Full Version : Bitrate out of range after pulldown

I seem to have hit a snag with the movie Suicide Kings.

After re-encoding the main movie file in CCE 2.5 (3 passes, 3700 avg. bitrate, 9120 max. bitrate), the .mpv file flies below the radar in bitrate viewer. However, when I perform pulldown, the resulting .mpv file registers bitrates well over 9120 kbps in many places during the movie. The peak throughout was 11177 kbps. As a result, I cannot create the vob files in Scenarist because the video bitrate is too high.

This is the only movie I have ever had this problem. I cannot seem to figure it out. No matter how low I set the max. bitrate setting in CCE, the result has always failed.

Why would pulldown cause the movie to be out of spec?

Has anyone had success with this movie?

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

NIK

I had no idea that the DVD Compliant checkbox in CCE always defaults the max. bitrate to 9800 kbps. I thought that I had setup CCE the way the guides recommended in doom.

The movie re-encoded and survived Scenarist after the pulldown.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I would have never guessed what to do.
