View Full Version : Opinions on SRT v shrinking

Hi there ...

first post. I have learned a lot from these forums and am making some good progress but there are still a few things I haven't been able to figure out from the guides and forum.

I want to back up The Pianist (more for experiment than anything else) which has a proportion of German dialogue with English subs. I ripped them to an SRT with SubRip. But I don't know what to do with them.

So I went to DVDShrink and found that I can get the whole disc compressed at Level 7 (losing 35%). No idea if that is regarded as a lot or perfectly acceptable.

Am I going to achieve better results with this total shrink or am I better off somehow connecting the SRT file with the output of DVD2One in MovieOnly mode (which presumably gives the best possible quality by shedding all non-essentials and extras) ?

Tools I am using

Nero
DVDDecrypt
DVD2One
DVDShrink
Subrip (only used once)

thanks if you can point me in the right direction.
