Vorbis 1.0.1 changelog:

Vorbis downloads:

Doesn't seem much new or improved (ie: better quality for same bitrate, faster encoding, etc) - seems to be mainly minor bugfixes. The one that interests me the most is Improved handling of quiet signals in low bitrate modes
but that's hardly omg-amazing-wow news :)

There is already talk of vorbis 1.1 - but don't hold your breath for it. This should include better quality, faster encoding, etc, at least to a small degree.

What have they been doing for the last 14 months if they haven't been developing theora?

The "real deal" support for Ogg FLAC is a nice addition.

I didn't see any thing mentioned about channel coupling. So I assume it's still not working correctly.

If they ever fix that, then there might be another alternative to AAC for surround sound audio.

They've been working on Neuron portables I think. Emmett's fault. :) He did too good a job of getting them contracts. Something like that anyway.

Can anyone link me up to tests that compare this latest release with OggGT3b1 in quality settings above -q6?

Also, does anyone know if floggy will ever surface?

OK, I'll search at HA for the first question.
Floggy is a kid of hack Garf (Ogg dev) made that can compress music to the 4-8kbps range and still be fairly listenable. For more info, go to:

Yeah, it does. BTW, is it possible to mux an ogg sound file with an rm video stream?
