Hi there

Over the past 2 months i have been creatng a home theatre PC to play cd/mp3/divx/dvd etc, The unit entails of a Athlon xp1700, 256mb ddr, shuttle Via kt266 Small form factor and a ATI all in wonder radeon with PAL only tv out. The software i am using entails of the ATI multimedia centre 3.7, myHTPC, (a fantastic bit of software), WM9, Divx player 2.5 and the ATI remote wonder software.

Everything works fine except playing back NTSC dvds & divx material
because of the PAL tv output, there is visible stuttering/jerkiness
down to the 60hz to 50hz conversion, Is there any way to cure this.
or do any of you hardware gurus know of a ATI bios for the AIW card that gives switchable PAL/NTSC output, (my tv accepts PAL & NTSC 4.43/
3.58).

Forgot to mention, i am using the ATI MMC dvd player, which uses Powerdvd's filters for audio & video, passed through SPDIF to a Dolby Dig/dts amplifier.

Kind regards and looking forward to response

Are you sure your AIW's TV-out is PAL only?

I have an AIW 8500DV and I can select by format which means I can choose PAL or NTSC. Both work on my TV.

On the Displays tab click on the TV button (next to the green button). Then select the Format tab.

Many thanks for the reply

But unfortunately the only options i have are Pal I, M & N, (i think)
but no Ntsc, ive had a look around on some forums which have said that Pal M or N give out a 60Hz signal not 50, which might cure my tearing problem.

I'l have a look tonight

Yes, PAL-M is 60 Hz. (http://www.atariage.com/common/video_key.html)

PAL-M is used exclusively in Brazil, and is a hybrid of NTSC and PAL. PAL-M uses the same scanlines, frequency, and frame rate as NTSC, but uses a PAL color pallette. Keep in mind that this is the video format used by the TV, to our knowledge there aren't any cartridges actually programmed for PAL-M. This means that NTSC games will display on a PAL-M TV but the color may be different from that of an NTSC TV. Therefore, we have listed Brazilian games as being in NTSC format, even though the Brazilian video standard is PAL-M. Brazilian games should play fine on North American TV's.

Scanlines: 525
Frame Rate: 30 FPS
Frequency: 60 Hz

Cheers once again for the clarification, much appreciated

Unfortunately, i was wrong my card won't output Pal M, so no 60Hz,
never mind , ive now got an excuse to save up for a video projector:D.
Looks like i'l have to pull my Realmagic hollywood card out of retirement.

Once again many thanks for the help
