When I rip the dutch subtitels from the matrix reloaded dvd subrip keeps confusing the Capital i and the l. Does anybody know another solution instead of using a spelling checker or replacing al both characters with the l?

Use the correction POST-OCR utility in Subrip, it should correct this error (but sometimes not all).

yeah, ALWAYS use the post-OCR correction when using SubRip. It's gotten better and better in later versions too (both OCR and post-OCR fixing), so always make sure you're using the latest SubRip.
Yet another post-OCR step is to use "Subtitle Workshop" and run the subtitle through it's "Information and errors" function, which also can fix OCR errors quite good. Be aware though - if you've got a formatted subtitle (italics, bold, underlined text etc), Subtitle Workshop (v.2.03) will destroy the formatting.

Subtitle Workshop (v.2.03) will destroy the formatting.
To workaround this issue you can turn on the "No interaction with tags" option. It's not perfect, I know... I'll add full support for tags for Subtitle Workshop 3.00.

Yeah that would be really nice, cause Subtitle Workshop messes with the tags even if you uncheck that option in the preferences. ;)

No, it doesn't. It doesn't even know the subtitle contains tags, everything it may do with the tags is due to your "Information and errors" configuration.

That's what I meant... if one uses the "Information and Errors" function after having activated "No interaction with tags", its still edits formatting tags.

And would post OCR correct the subtitels in dutch too?

Who cares? I don't (no more, in fact).
Excuse-me, I didn't want to be rude, but after spending too much time correcting OCRized-subs, I've decided Arial-font would do the work for me :D . With this font, there's no need to correct I/l.
Sorry to have bumped.

On the LOTR 2 Ext DVD, I had another problem:
Elvish words, like 'the flame of udûn', or 'the Nûmenorer' b0rked: it recognised the first half of the û as one letter, and the 2nd half needed to be set to 'nothing'...
