I stumbled across this thread at Fat Wallet (http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=18&threadid=240093) about cheap Riteks and I went today to PC Club (http://www.pcclub.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=A3458853) check it out and they really are selling Ritek GO4s for $0.80 a pop. Naturally I cleaned them out :D Who knows when I'll run across a deal like this again.
Don't know how long the sale will last so if you like the price.. jump on it quick.

I saw that thread, but since I'm on the east coast and would have to order online I didn't bite. The shipping puts them over $1 a disc and there is no guarantee that they will be GO4s. But for people who have a local store it is a steal.
Fatwallet is cool. I just bought the Iomega dual DVD drive ( NEC 1300a rebadge) from this (http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=18&threadid=239945&highlight_key=y&keyword1=iomega) thread for $89 after rebate.

Be careful, as from my own experince and from experiences of other folks in dvd-related forums (in Germany at least....) the Ritek04's seem to be of quite fluctuating quality at the moment. Don't know how it is in other countries.
Problem encountered here is that you can burn them without problems but when you test them on your SA they may stutter/freeze when you're quite at the end of your movie. Data quality seems to be quite bad in the second half. Then burnin' again same movie with the same app on the next RITEK and it works fine (-> fluctuating quality).
However it's not that all RITEK04's are crap but with my recent 100-pack I got ~40% coasters..... :(

This is interesting.....
I've never run across any bad reviews nor had any bad experience with Ritek media so I'm not sure how to take this news. I'm not saying it isn't possible but it just hasn't been anything that I've run across yet. I hope there's nothing wrong with this batch seeing as how I bought so many and PC club doesn't take media returns. I guess I'll just have to test my new burns immediately just to make sure.....
Thanks for the heads up.

I was also quite surprised as RITEK04 was always quite a good choice.
However not all charges are affected but at the moment there seem to be some of bad quality :(
Even dealers here confirmed that.
I'm using 4xVerbatims right now, these work fine so far (had to pay more for them of course...)
