View Full Version : Two identical PGC's?

I'm trying to backup on of my dvds using the big 3 method, but when I'm in DIF4U, my movie VTS(01) has two PGC parts -- both are exactly the same length. The first one PGC(01) has 3 audio streams, "EN, FR, 2CH DC", and the second, PGC(02) has 4 streams, "EN, FR, 2CH DC, 2CH ADC".
My question is, why are there two PGC's? Why not just have 1 PGC with all the audio streams? Is it safe to leave out one of the PGCs when I "Do it"?
btw, the movie is widescreen only.
Thanks,
kisk

Well, there is mostly a reason behind this :)
Maybe there's an extra feature like button-over-video (like "Follow the Rabbit" on Matrix DVD) which uses the other PGC.
Normally you can leave one of those PGCs out, but be sure to leave the right one out. You have to check which one is played when you select to watch the movie "normal" from the menu, but I don't know for sure whether it's a problem with the different count of audio streams.

The PGCS are not identical. The command structure will probably look different. And here the second PGC has one audio stream more. Probably some extra directory comments.
But you can use the big three. Just rip by PGC and only choose PGC2.
After RA creates the script and you imported this into scenarist. Delete the dummy PGC1 created by RA. After that copy and paste PGC2 into this empty spot. Compile and you're finished.
You can delete the 4th audio track from pgc1 using ifoedit if you want (PGCITY set 4th stream number to 0).
