Hi!
I found this cheap media (Yes, they are labeled, and they look very professional)
at my local store...
I bought one, and it seemed ok.
Burnt an almost full dvd in 17 mins on my sony dru 500a...
but, i know nothing about these dvds, i'd like to know such as their lastability
can anyone tell me their experiences on this media, please?
I'll seriously be conciderating buying a lot of these if they're good.

edit: found out these are "leaddata01"

Then the answer to "are they any good" is a simple NO. I think atreides93 has had an encounterment with leaddata discs :D

This is not an easy question to answer.

Longevity is a big unknown. We will not know that for many years.

The best we can do is buy the best media we can afford and hope for the best.

The blank DVD has to be optimized for your burnner. The DVD`s from verbatim, CMC magnetics, TDK and Ritek are usually in most burner firmware.

Here is an example, Pioneer AO6 and Samsung BeALL work great. If I use it in a Plextor 708A nothing usable is created. It will not play in any standalone but works in my computer. With no change in settings a Ritek 1X burns and plays well.
Plextor708A firmware 1.03
Pioneer AO6 Firmware 1.07
Nero 551042

Leadata 1X not 4X work well in my pioneer and plextor burners.

Tell us your burner and firmware revision and hopefully a user will be able to tell you what works best in their setup.
Also e-mail your burner`s Tech support and ask them what was tested and worked well.

I hope this helps you out.

I've had mixed results with leaddata01's. Basically the ones I got were called DUPEZ and they were rated at 4X. I could only burn these at 2X on my NEC 1300A. On top of that, they are totally unreliable if I burn them at 1X on my Sharp DVD Recorder (standalone recorder). SO for me, they totally suck and I'll never buy them again.

On the other hand, if you can burn them at 4X and it appears that you can, once they're burned, they seem to play back fine. I have burned about 40 movies on them in 2X mode, and they seem to play back ok. I tested the disks using nero dvd speed, and they come out ok.

From now on I'll just stick to Ritek's.
