Though I read through some ogm tutorials, I dont seem to know how to make an ogm file that not only contains different audio streams, but subtitles as well. Specifically, I recently obrained an ogm file that has two audio streams, and separately ifo, idx and sub files for the subtitles.
Whats the procedure needed to incorporate the subs as selectable or not in the ogm file?
Thanks.

You can incorporate subs of *.srt type in OGM/AVI using Virtual Dub Mod.For this you need to open the sub as another stream in streams list. Then as you do with mp3s,click OK and save to OGM.The file will be having subs. For other subs you may need Ogg Mux.

Those ifo, idx and sub files can be muxed into the Matroska container with the newest version of mkvtoolinux.
As Tunning stated, you can mux the srt files into an OGM, but you have to create your SRT, which can be done with SubRip. With OGGMuxer by Nic, you can also input SSA subtitles.

Thanks for the help, but I think Im doing something wrong. I converted the subs to srt easily with subrip, but I cant use the ogm file as source for OggMux, or load it into Virtualdub. All I ahve is the ogm file (with the audio streams and chapters embedded into it) and a separate srt file.
What is it Im doing wrong? :/
Thanks for your help.

You need to use VirtualDubMod for embedding srt in existing OGM.

Hm, I managed to embet the srt stream into the ogm file with VDMod, but when I try to play it back with Media Player, WMP tells me "The Parameter is incorrect" and makes me close the file.
IS there an alternate way of sticking subs in an ogm file? And how could I put subs in the ogm with OggMux if it only allows me to use avi files as source files?
Thanks.

For using OGG Mux you need Avi files. For that again use VDM and save as avi.Note that if audio is ogg,the resulting avi will not have sound. For that first demux sound file, than create avi and finally mux in ogg mux.Remember to use direct stream copying of video while converting to avi.

I think you need OggDSSubtitle filter to play embedded subs in ogm. Alternatively one can use DirectVobSub or maybe MediaPlayerClassic from Gabest.
Edit: Better look here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=58680)

Ok, tried a few things, sadly none work. It seems the problem lies with the srt or the sub file itself. I broke the ogm down to the two ogg audio streams and the avi, and managed to mux them together with OggMux. After testing the file in WMP it works fine. However when I do the same and INCLUDE the srt file, it wont playback in WMP. ITs gives me an "Incorrect PArameter" error. This happens wether I embed the subs in VdubMod or in OggMux.
So since the ogm get muxed fine without subs, and dont work with the subs muxed in, Im guessing its the subs that are screwing something up. Be damned if I know what its doing, though. :/
And its not the sub filters, I got those installed - I got some other ogm files with subs in them and I can read those fine.

Try to make an MKV out of the same files and see if that works with VdubMod. It's same as when you make your OGM in VdubMod, but you just save as MKV.
Note: you can't do chapters in VDubMod, you need mkvtoolinux for that.
Also which version of the OggDS are you using, 0.9.9.6 or 0.9.9.5? If one doesn't work, try the other. 0.9.9.6 is located in this thread.

You need the VS filter from Gabests guliverkli Project to view subs with 0.9.9.6.

Ugh, Im not seeming to have a lot of success. Despite isntalling the proper matroska codecs, WMP doesnt seem to want to load the files. I also tried muxing the srt file with both OggDS versions and differnt sub filters, but no luck either.
I'm beginning to suspect that the ogm and the sub files were distributed separately for a reason, though it boggles the mind why I couldnt append a simple srt to an ogm. Ill pass them on to a friend to see if he can do something with them, if he can I'll at least know its my machine thats bodgy.:P
Thanks for the help anyhow. :D
