Updated: I'M SORRY - THE SCREENSHOTS ARE OF DIFFERENT FRAMES, SO IT'S NOT A DVD2AVI ISSUE!

-------------
Notice the artifacts near the right border of the frame. These are not present on DVD2AVI preview (first screenshot), but are seen on Gordean Knot preview (second screenshot) of the resulting .d2v file. The resulting divx/xvid file will have the same artifacts - tested.

I'm using DVD2AVI 1.77.3dg1.0.0RC2 (a part of GK 1.6.2). Though, another, older version behaved just the same.

I tried IDCT algorithms: "32-bit" & "IEEE", no difference. Field Operation is set to None (I also tried Swap Field Order but it only adds horizontal bars).

http://yar.warlock.net/files/src_combined.jpg (yet without artifacts)
http://yar.warlock.net/files/res.jpg (here they appear)

There were no read errors during the rip with DVDDecrypter.

If you are stepping on the DVD2AVI timeline, you should be aware that it does not show all frames, so not seeing it with DVD2AVI does not exclude the possibility of bad frames in the source.

Just make a D2V file and then serve it into VirtualDub with mpeg2source(). If the artifact is present, then it is likely in your source material. If not, then we will need to see the Avisynth script produced by GK. Please report your results.

If you can post a link to a short source clip showing the problem, then we can probably help you much better and faster.
