ok so since ati tech support sucks, hopefully I can get some advice from you guys. (haven't failed me yet)
I have an ATI all-in-wonder 8500dv. I'm trying to record from the ati tv tuner software using the divx 5.0.5 codec. The audio is just 44k pcm cause I cant select ogg or mp3 as an audio format (damnit). So anway, recording like this from the tv is great, but for some reason, the video and the audio are out of synch, the audio is about 20 seconds faster than the video. Works the same for xvid and divx 4.12, doesn't happen when I use cinepack, indeo or any of the common codecs. Any idea's what to do here?
thanks for any help

i'd try using something else to capture. iuvcr has loads of bits to fiddle with.

I usually don't capture AVI with my AIW (I usually go direct to MPEG2), but I think this avi a/v sync bug has been known for a while and was fixed in one of the most recent versions of MMC (8.6 or 8.7)
What version are you using ?

And if you're capturing to avi, try using VirtualVCR where it has a "resample audio dynamically" option which fits the audio length to the video length. I've had many captures with it and no sync problems whatsoever.
And if the audio is always about 20 seconds out of sync, you can just set the audio delay automatically in VDub either before or after you encode.

The synch bug sounds about right, I'm using an older one, like 7.6 cause everytime I try to update, everything get's fried. Shit stops working, no errors etc. I hate the way ati releases their drivers and sw...

I have an All-in-Wonder 9000 Pro, using version 8.7 of MMC (and the latest 3.9 Catalyst drivers). I've not experienced any of the problem you see. I've captured a lot from the built-in tuner as well as a connected VCR. I've used Divx 5.1 and Xvid, no sync issues.
You might want to try upgrading. Completely delete all ATI software before installing the newer versions.
