'spelling impaired' may be another phrase for 'english-is-NOT-my-native-language'...
but it's shorter ;-)

just to prevent any mis-interpretation:

my post was in no way ment discriminating!!!

I only wanted to say, that if english-spelling is sometimes hard even for native speakers/writers, how hard could this be for foreigners...

For me as a non-native speakers I do my best to make my sentences understandable; if I don't know the spelling of a certain word I could a) look it up in a dictionary, or b) describe it using simpler words!
What is the sense in perfekt high-educated sentences, if most of the readers had to search most of the vocabulary in their dictionairies?

I appreciate the use of this tool! I only wish in some german forums, that their users also use tools like this / Oh boys, It's sometimes more a guess 'what is it? what could he have ment by these fractals of words?'
This really takes the fun out of reading the posts...
Sometimes it's spelling impaired -- but of course not always, sometimes its a crap keyboard with not-responding keys, sometimes its a fast-as-hell typer, faster than the keyboard reacts...

That's right guru1968:
I don't take it as an offence, and I appreciate your tip. Not being an english native speaker I know how difficult it is for us to convey the exact sense of a phrase when we post seeking help or answering any question (in my case it is more of the former than the latter).
I wish people stop writting in short hand, so we don't have to spend a lot of time trying to guess what they want to say (you can say the same for those posting in spanish -my own native language)

And if you want a similar tool for another web browser, you can use the Google search bar. It has also an integrated spelling checker. I use it with Mozilla Thunderbird, and it works fine.

English ain't that hard... Except grammar maybe. Ok then, compare it to Japanese, or Russian. And then tell which is easier or harder :D

yes... that's right... Portuguese is considered the hardest language of all... maybe that's why we (Portugueses) can learn every language in the world and speak it correctly lol

Firefox <2.0 users can install AspellFox (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1022/) for on demand spell checking.

Currently the most spoken language in the world is: Bad_English.

Someday the entire planet will be speaking Bad_English or Mandarin.

I proudly speak Bad_English, but an easy-to-use-forum-integrated spell check is welcome.

Use Mozilla Firefox. The spell checking is integrated in all editable forms, and automatic.

Thank you for the indication. Installed (downloaded) the en-US dictionary and it works fine. At least for spell check. Grammar is another history ...

I actually heard that german my native language is supposed to be the hardest language to learn due to the definite article and the associated tense. But like feedback said the spell checker in Firefox is pretty nice..makes little dots just below the words who are spelled wrong. First I didnt know what it was since I installed the english FF version and every time I wrote in german I got those red dots...

i know some friends who type wayyy too fast that their words are practically gibberish. i'm also not a native-speaker, and also take no offense in what you said. :) but thanks for clarifying it. hopefully, a lot of people would be mindful about spelling their words correctly not solely for grammatical purposes, but also for the sake of those reading the posts. :)

Communication is key !

We all strive to communicate better ... your very presence on these or any forums, implies an act of communication.
Everyone has problems with spelling, grammer or intent ... be it in German, Swahili or Chinese ... even Shakespeare who had 3 times the average vocabulary and created 9,000 new words.

The internet has created a global village with the need for a common or universal language.

It's all good

Wrong. The Internet didn't create that, the Internet just made it more evident. :)

Be that as it may, I really don't want to see a future full of Justin Bieber fans all typing like that.
