Hi there.

I currently use the robshot?? method to back up all my DVD's to 1 x DVD+R when I buy them since I dont have any interest in special features or menu's this seems the best way.

The one and only problem I have with PAL DVD's and authoring a movie only DVD using IFO edit are the subtitles.

Fair enough, I can strip the subs using vobedit and then integrate them when authoring with IFO edit, but with my of my DVD's its required that these subtitles are on when the movie starts by default and using IFO edit I cant figure out how to do this.

A fine example is the thomas crown affair R2. During the 'trojan horse' scene where the three guys are escaping from the horse they have a conversation in russian? and in this scene on the original disk the subs are activated automatically so that you can understand them but on the version I have re-encoded you have to activate them yourself and for a 20 second scene in a movie it seems a pain really.

So my question is can IFO edit be used to automatically activate subtitles when they are needed for example when foreign dialogue is being spoken on-screen?

Thanks.

P.S. Moderators, I had a search and couldnt find much, so sorry if this has been asked a dozen times before.

I don't have any experience with sub-titles, but I found this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64186) that might help you.

Good luck.
