View Full Version : 'Dummy' languages and subtitles

Hi,

I copy DVDs with DoItFast4U + Scenarist. I usually strip some languages and subtitles in DoItFast4U and it makes some dummy files to keep the DVD structure.

So, when I play back the copied DVD I can change the language to a stripped one (in this case there's silence). What should I have to do to be able to change to only existing (and not 'dummy') languages and subtitles?

Best regards,

Yorog

I'd just like to add that I tried ripping with DVDShrink and removing the extra subtitles from there and it didn't work. I still had the dummy languages there. As a matter of fact, what I have is the name of the languages that I do keep with consecutive numbers for all the dummy subtitles, ie for let's say

English
Spanish
Greek
German
Dutch
French

I get for keeping English and Greek the following

English 1
English 2 (probably from the aspect ratio Reauthorist issue)
English 3 (sometimes I see Greek 1 here)
English 4
Greek 1
Greek 2
Greek 3
Greek 4
Greek 5
Greek 6
Greek 7
Greek 8

That prove's to be rather cumbersome to use, without the subtitle menu.

if you want to remove the menu buttons association with the dummy subtitle files you could try using menuedit avaliable (here) (http://menuedit.dimad.net/home.html)

i am not sure i follow what you are saying. why would you rip the movie with dvd shrink prior to using the big 3? or did i miss something?

I had tried that in order to see if I could make the other subtitle streams dissappear completely. Obviously, it didn't work.

IfoEdit will do the job. Then use whatever you like for the rest.

To give some more info:

use ifoedit, go to the pg_city part of your ifo and after that to PGC (have to do all PGCs). Change the stream value of any of your dummies to 0 and save the ifo.
