Does it really make a difference if you use expensive svideo cables to capture your video? I bought a gold plated capture set from Maplins in the UK very cheaply. I am now being told my captures would be visibly improved if I use Thor av cables at 5 times the price, but I am too tight to check it out myself.

When you are dealing with an analog (or analogue) signal, the quality of the 'cable' and the 'connectors' used, can make a great deal of difference!
However it's very easy to get carried away when reading manufacturers specifications! The best advice I can offer is to keep your cable lengths short. Never, ever coil up a cable that is too long, avoid running your signal cables in parallel to your power cables. And make sure your connectors are clean and fit snugley at both ends!
Cheers
