View Full Version : BatchCCEWS not doing multiple passes???

This is the first time I'v tried to use 'the big 3' but I got everything to work except CCE seems to be encoding 1pass VBR, instead of the entered. I'm following the guide at:
http://www.doom9.org/mpg/ra-guide.htm
Here are my files:
AVS script file (http://students.washington.edu/scousin/misc/VTS__01_P01.4~3_1.NOPULL~.AVS)
ReAuthorist_DoCCE file (http://students.washington.edu/scousin/misc/ReAuthorist_NewDoCCE.txt)
ECL file (http://students.washington.edu/scousin/misc/VTS__01_P01.4~3_1.NOPULL.ecl)
I as the script files show I selected 3pass VBR for the main movie, and 5pass VBR for the extras. Everything looks ok. BatchCCEWS says that it will do a 3pass VBR encode using the 'Robshot-bach' method.
BatchCCEWS does the first ro-ba pass, then starts the second. However, it takes the exact same time to do both passes. It's like it's doing a 1pass VBR encode.
I've read the stickys and do a (quick) forum search but no one else seems to have this problem. Any ideas???
Thanks in advance :D

The 0 in the file, before the number of passes means roba which is basically 1 pass. It should be 1 which is multipass VBR.

Sorry, newbie you mean the 0 in the ReAuthorist_CCE file? So
0,"C:\DVD Rip\VTS01\VTS__01_P01.4~3_1.NOPULL.AVS",0,9352,3304,0,3,38,15,0,85848,-1,-1,-1,-1,0,970,25064,46855,64712,85732
should be:
0,"C:\DVD Rip\VTS01\VTS__01_P01.4~3_1.NOPULL.AVS",0,9352,3304,1,3,38,15,0,85848,-1,-1,-1,-1,0,970,25064,46855,64712,85732
Thanks, one more question thou. Do I have to set this manually each time? I assume there's a setting in either ReAuthorist or BatchCCEWS that I missed that's causing this to happen.
Thanks in advance.

yes that's what I mean. It mnust be some setting but I don't know. I always use the ccedata.txt from dif4u which dows the same.
In dif4u you can set the encoding method under avs script editor.

Sounds like I made a mistake when I configured everything. Because all the GUIs say 3pass VBR and the scripts (save for that 0) say it too. I'll go through all the settings again until I find it. I was using a file called 'ReAuthorist_DoCCE.txt' maybe the difference is a simple as that (at work now so can't check until I get home).
THANKS for the fast replies. Once I 'figure this out' I want to try to learn NuMenu4U and really learn how to use IFOEdit.

load that file into docce. After loading double click on a job and see what it says.
Good luck with the learning process :)

When I load the files in BatchCCEWS, and double click it says 3pass VBR using the Robshot-bach method. That's why I was confused, everything looks right, save for that 0 in the script file.
Like I said I'll have to check it when I get home. Since no one else seems to have this problem I must have done something wrong :) I'll figure it out.
Thanks again...

Hmm, I changed the 0 to a 1 and tryed again, but it's still not doing multipass encodes??? Also the final project sizes aren't working out correctly either.
I'm going to give DoCCE4U a try and see if that makes a difference (vs. BatchCCEWS), and may try CCE v 2.62 after that. Not sure what the problem is. My first project was the correct size (but 1pass VBR).

Delete your vaf and ecl before reencoding, otherwise nothing will change.

I was starting from scratch (new DoItFast4U dir each time actually). Thanks for all the help. I was able to (it appears at least) fix the problem by switching from BatchCCEWS to DoCCE4U 1.0.1.5
This seems to have fixed the multipass encode and the smaller than predict file size problems. Not sure why, but maybe I can figure it out as I learn more about how the whole process works.

I've noticed more people suffer from undersized projects using batchcce. Anyway docce serves it's purpose quite well. In combination with dif4u it's all you need.

I wish I could reproduce this problem. I use BatchCCE all the time and it always does multipass on the RoBa second part.

Yeah, same here :)
Although I experience some strange behaviour using the RoBa-template lately, which I can't reproduce and I'm not the only one with this issue.
Maybe you could check this thread in the CCE section (especially the postings from stationx and me): http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62712

I had exactly the same problem! tried BatchCCE for the first time instead of DoCCE and it only did a Roba one pass VBR. Did exactly the same with DoCCE and it is happily on its third pass now! I came on the forum and lo and behold - here is this thread!

I'm not sure what's happening. I didn't change anything between DoCCE4U and BatchCCE that should be causing this.
Are you guys having CCE encode audio?

I'm having the exact same problem. I use the big 3 along with cce 2.50, and avisynth 2.08.
DoCCE4u worked fine when I used it to do a different movie 2 days ago, and it has worked fine for me in the past. Tonight I was backing up disc 1 of Terminator3 fullscreen edition, which has just one vts, and docce4u was having trouble loading the ReAuthorist_DoCCE.txt file. So I installed batchccews 0.9.1.0, which loaded the reauthorist_docce.txt file ok, but when I let batchccews process the joblist it did only two passes, just like it did for Vejita-sama.
Both reauthorist and batchccews were set to do 3 passes and the average bitrate was supposed to be 4238. When the job was run, cce only did 2 passes, the resulting mpv file was undersized by about a gigabyte, and bitrate viewer shows the actual average bitrate to be around 2300.

How exactly was it having problems loading the file?
I should be coming out with a new version of BatchCCE shortly which changes the one thing I can think of that may cause this problem for some people.

BBWoof - I'm not sure what the problem is/was. When I load the any of the three files in BatchCCE everything looks ok. It says that it will do a 3pass VBR RObShot encode of the main movie and a 5pass VBR RobShot encode of the extras. However, when I ran the script they always did 1pass VBR encodes. If I use DoCCE4U instead, everything loads/read correctly and encodes correctly.
I no longer have the script files that were causing the problem. But I'll try to reproduce the problem this Wed/Thurs (holiday) and re-post all the necessary script files and log files.
I tried five different DVD discs and always got the same results. And at least two other posters have experience the same problem (it's always nice to know it's not just me :)). Thanks for taking an interest in this and will post back in a few days.

Is that I have it installed on three different machines and can't reproduce the problem on any of them:
AMD XP2100 with XP Pro
Intel 2.4G Laptop with XP Home
Intel 2.8G Desktop with XP Pro
All work fine.

Oh, it was just the old bug where docce4u wouldn't load the first line of the ReAuthorist_DoCCE.txt if your working path has a space in it. I had reorganized some of the folders on my hard drive and put them inside a folder that had a space in the name. I could've changed the name of the folder easily enough, but I thought "what the heck I'll try batchccews and see what happens" since you had written that you fixed that bug in batchccews.

Hello there everybody
I was also just recently having a problem there with BatchCCEws
only doing 1 pass on the second pass.
I've gone back to using version 0.9.0.8 beta and it now works
as it used too!
The new release beta must have a bug or something - not sure exactly
I have just recently rebuilt a machine and so put the latest version
of the big 3 on my PC, but have resorted back to an earlier beta of batchccews and it works as normal now, doing the 5 passes for extras and 3 passes for main movie on my backups.
hope it helps some of you other guys out there with this problem
cheers

Hi there i've got the same problem :(
Allready tested older versions:
BatchCCEWS 0.9.1.1 Beta to BatchCCEWS 0.9.0.9 Beta (the ones avaible from woofsoft.com) and the problem is still there also tested after cleaning BatchCCEWS registry keys.
Has anyone got a link to BatchCCEWS 0.9.0.8 Beta? I've googelized allready and no luck or BBwoof could you add the version to your page in the "Old Versions" section?
Hope this version will work for me :(

I switched some things back to what I was doing earlier. Don't know if it'll work, but it might be worth a try.
