Hi there,
I've got a problem with my DVR-105 which functions correctly apart from not being able to recognise CD-RWs as a rewritable media when I try to scrub them. I've used several erase programs, downloaded the latest firmware for the DVR but suspect that it's either that the DVR harware can't distinguish CD-RW from CD-R or that there is some sort of 'media fingerprint' embedded on newer discs. I got this idea when reading the specs and it was stated that only certain manufacturer's discs would be written to at 2x speed, I mean how could you tell the mfr without an ID on the disc?
My system is win 9x / AMD 1 gig athlon / Abit m/board but I've fairly sure that's irrelevant as there are no drivers and it's not a program error. Can anyone shed a bit of light on this?
thanks in advance
Jezzer

Which CD-RWs are you using?

Tried Kodak or TDK discs? If you can't do it with them, I'd say your burner has a problem.

Thanks JB,
I use el-cheapo bargain bucket cdrws. I stuck an old cdrw drive back in place of a newer drive (enough bays but the abit m/board is so big it gets in the way) and that works for now. I don't think there's anything wrong with the dvd drive.
Thanks again
