I backed up a DVD using DVD Shrink and burnt it using Nero on a dvd+r and a dvd-r. Both do not play in my PS2. All previous backups on dvd+r and dvd-r all played in my PS2 except for this one.

The discs I used were TDK 4x DVD+R and then Comp USA 2x DVD-R.

I've had a strange and somewhat related problem. Using the same brand of discs from the same spindle (same branding, Ritek 03), about 1/3 of my backups don't work on a PS2. They were all burned using Nero 6, and almost all were reauthored in DVD Shrink. Some were straight copies, after slightly enhancing the signal using the features of DVD Decryptor. A handful were reauthored in Scenarist. There appears ot be no real rhyme or reasona to which ones work and which ones don't, and to say that I'm at a loss would be an understatement. It appears that the scenarist reauthored discs all work just fine. Some of the straight copies have problems (not all) and some of the DVD Shrunk discs have problems (not all). Truly mystifying.

@One Night Stand

Those Comp USAs are sticky. I've had many terrible burns with them, using Nero 5.5.9.9. Now I use mainly Riteks (Rima.com has some good prices on these). Mine are +R, but already I cringe at seeing the Comp USA name! I've only had one bad burn on Riteks, dispite having made hundreds of burns with them. I was only averaging 2:6 (2 goods for every 6 bads) using Comp. Lots of set top problems on playback, even though the burn itself seemed to go well -- Nero didn't complain, which it usually will when things aren't kosher. Hopefully this helps!

I've had (and still have) this problem with dvdshrink. The problem isn't the media or the burning software it's dvdshrink. The only thing I use it for is to cut end credits and when finished the dvd won't play in some standalones. Why? I have no idea! If I want end credits I use dvd2one, the resulting dvd plays in everything.

I've used recordnow, nero6, easycd6, copytodvd and other burning programs. Media has ranged from TY, ritek, princo, leda and others.
When the dvd won't play in some standalones the only similar variable between the discs is dvdshrink.
I'm not saying this happens all the time with dvdshrink, but some times. It just seems to be a hit-and-miss thing.

I will continue to use and recommend dvdshrink to anyone, after all it is a great program.
