looking for a capturing tool

hi,

because i´m new to this i don´t know which of the capturing tools you should use. at this time i used virtual vcr (vdub doesn´t work with my terratec). perhaps someone can give me some suggestions on (other) capturing tools. i´m not sure if there are any other capturing tools which might be better for capturing...

The Capture FAQ (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32575) has some recommendations for capture software, with some links. In addtion, depending on the chipset of your card, there may be drivers available to get it to work with Vdub. The guide has links for those as well. If you are able to use Vdub, then you can more easily follow the Capture Guide (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/capture/start.html), though it is not strictly necessary to use Vdub for capture , merely for post-processing as per the guide.

thx for the info. i only read the capture faq on the doom9 homepage not the one in the forum. the faq on the homepage only mentioned vdub and virtual vcr therefore i asked for any alternatives or any commercial capture software..

AVI_IO (http://www.nct.ch/multimedia/avi_io/) is an excellent shareware tool to capture analog sources.

For using the latest cards(CX23881, Philips SA713x) with Win98SE/Win2k/WinXP(=WDM capturing), I recommend iuVCR (http://iuvcr.com). I've got a Terratec Cinergy, and it works very good with it. Unfortunately it's shareware. I bought it, because I couln't find another software which fits my needs.

IuVcr has worked great for me but when i saw this post i also gonna give AVI_IO a try but -like i said IuVcr works great right now- being new to this myself im just startin to research how to compress the huge files into a 2 cd project--Good Luck
