When I choose to burn directly from Nero Recode, it creates a folder called Nero Recode, and then inside that folder it puts the VIDEO_TS folder, and I cannot play the disc on my standalone, I think due to the Nero Recode folder being present on the disc. Can I configure the program not to create this folder? (Remove ROM-Data or any other way?)

Thanx,

Does the output have to be set to a root directory?

Hi,

I have used Nero Recode version 0.9.6.6 several times. In my experience if you first decrypt, then point Recode to the decrypted file, and also place a blank DVD disc into your burner, Recode will first shrink the files and then burn them onto the blank disc, without your intervention.

Some standalone players cannot play DVD burnt on +R discs, while being able to play DVD burnt on -R discs. Could that be the reason for your difficulty?

Hi,
Normally I decrypt the files using DVD Decrypter, and then strip whatever is not required, (logos, intros etc) in IfoEdit then load up into Recode and resize the files. Then whether I select to burn directly to disc or output to Hard disk first, a "Nero Recode" folder is always created with the VIDEO_TS folder inside on both disc and/or hard drive.

Hi,

Just a few thoughts:-

Why bother with all that processing? Usually, (but not always), you get a compression ratio of about 60% with everything still on the DVD, and about 80% with all the goodies removed.

IMHO it is not worth the hassle of all that processing. When you play the movie, you will have to be very perceptive to notice any difference in quality.

Whenever I am too enthusiastic in removing the extras, menus, languages etc. I usually end up with a disc which either does not have any sound, or any menus, or if it does have sound, I have to be very clever in finding where it is in order to activate it. So I have tried to resist removing things unless they are very obviously of no interest to me.

The problem nows seems resolved since updating to the latest version of Recode. Probable cause was I was using the first release of Recode.

Thanx all,
