Here are my specs:

PIV 3.0GHZ 800FSB
1GB DDR-400 Dual Channel
WD 120GB 7200RPM 8MB CACHE

I am using the CCE/DBD2AVI method described in the guides, however, I can't manage to make it work well... I have no sound at all, and all the cropping I had done in VirtualDub didnt work either ...

Guide here: http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/cce.htm

Here is what I did:

1- Extracted Vobs
2- Created DVD2AVI project
3- Re-encoded AC3 in MP3 using Besweet
4- Skipped IVTC since I read 29.97FPS NTSC
5- Calculated bitrate (1297)
6a- create a pseudo avi (no sound in it , but plays well in player)
6b- Opened the pseudo-avi in VirtualDub Mod and applied a resize filter
6c- skipped
6d- activated proxyon.reg and frameserve server exactly as described. Added the MP3 audio in virtualdub mod before, and left it all running.
7- Opened CCE 2.66. Added my pseudo-avi (episode4.d2v.avi). Edited it for Multipass VBR (2 passes) and for input file selected my MP3 (to make sure I would have sound).
8- After everything was done (without any errors or VB overflow...), I got my .mpv , but it had no sound and there was no cropping done. The image was exactly like the original DVD , no resize, no cropping, no nothing...

Now, what did I do wrong ? I didnt use an AVS script since It wasnt described in the guide on how to use it. I am only familiar with Avisynth for Divx5 encoding in vdub itself... first time I ever encode in SVCD.

Please help, thank you !

Hi, TigerLord,

Just in case: have you given DVD2SVCD a try? It does all these steps automatically for you.

I did try it, but it takes A LOT longer...

And I wantes to understand how it worked manually...

Really? I don't think so. The steps are very similar. Automating them should be faster than manual.

Good! We have a new artisan coming to Doom9! I suggest you to take a stroll over the Idiot's Guide. It will surely help this purpose.
