I have recently tried encoding a few films using both methods using a constant bit rate and can see no difference in the quality

Using nero visionexpress with the plugin took a total of 3h40 to encode and author the film

Using Tmpeg and spruceup it took a total of 3h50

I have viewed them on my pc and my standalone and can see no difference in them.

The only advantage one of them has is nero is a lot simpler and does all settings for you.

Whats your opinions Tmpeg or nero mpeg2dvd

did you do a PSNR test? any kind of comparison beyond visual?

at DVD bitrates, most encoders tend to reach quality saturation. that's the reason DVD bitrate is DVD bitrate.

try an SVCD encode and you'll see which one you prefer...
