I've been looking around for answers to some issues regarding players filters and drm.. unfortunately I couldn't find answers for all of them...
So if someone can help me filling the gaps and confirm what I think I get right that'd be great!

So as far as I understood there is no way to play DRMed videos in another player than the one it is supposed to be played. By this I mean
- DRM wm9 can only be played in Windows Media Player 9
- DRM real can only be played in real player ..
etc? is that right?

Also, I've tried to access the video settings in wmp9 but I couldnt find them. They were accessible in wmp6.4 by right-click/properties/advanced and even more easily in the great Mpc by right-click/filters.
Is there no way to access the properties of filters in wmp9?

Still about filters:
I use ffdshow and vobsub.
As both have the options of adding an icon in the tray their properties is supposed to be accessible anytime with any player.
It actually works ok within wmp9 with any codec as I can watch any video with vobsub displaying subtitles properly.
I also have the ffdshow icon displayed and options accessible.
HOWEVER when the video format is WM9: only Vobsub turns on. I couldnt find any way to access ffdshow. It actually looks like Ffdshow is not even launched as the ffdshow settings don't apply to the video displayed.
Is it an incompatibility between windows media player and ffdshow? (it works ok when the same video is played in mpc)
or deliberate limitation of wmp to prevent filters to run properly with wm9 files?(but Vobsub looks to work ok)

Finally I was wondering if filters still run properly with drm wm9 files/stream?

Thanks for your help and sorry if it has been discussed elsewhere before but I really couldnt find it.

billou2k, I may be wrong, but I think WMP9 uses it's own internal filters to play WMV and WMA files and so is not using DirectShow. Therefore ffdshow is not loaded.
I could be wrong.

Indeed that sounds very sensible! Thanks Beastie boy!

after some tests this is the result :
- MPC : don't works
- WMP 9 : works
- RealOne : works
- Winamp 5.0 Beta : works

Wiflye: You mean "works" or "not" in each player with DRM wm9 content?
