I have a tdk drive and have tried several different media types. I am using DVD decrypter and when I write to a +RW it works perfect but I can rewrite the same files to the +r media and it has only worked once, the rest of the time I get coasters. I have tried different record speeds and no change. Sometimes the disk name does not even work. It seems to hang in my regular DVD drive and even back in the recorder it is not able to be read correctly. Any help would make me very grateful.

Thanks

I have tried wo or three different manufactures. I am at work at the moment so I do not have the names but will get later. Also I have followed several of the different newbie ways to burn a dvd and all work fine with +rw and on +r's will not even read on the disk right after it has been written. I have also tried to use the +r's as data disks and they work perfectly fine. I am really lost on this but I am still trying. Thanks for the help and I will get the manufatures name tomorrow.

In my experience there are only three manufacturer of +R media - Mitsubishi, Ricoh and Tayo Yuden - and all of them are not so bad. They should work in PC. So the problem is probably in burning process. What is the exact way you burn your compilation??

I have used the ifo way and the dvd decrypter, also I have tried Nero but I had seen a lot of post with people having problems with it. I have tried dvdcopy and no change. I have tried using the ISO image and tried with just putting the files into the directory on the drive and no change.

You probably meant ISO mode in DVD Decrypter. It is strange that your +RW disk play flawlessly but +R disk not. I would understood it in standalone but in PC ? Is your standalone able to read your burned +R disk which is unreadable in PC? You can try to rip your DVD in File mode in DVD Decrypter and than make an iso image with ImgTool Classic (you can download it from CouJo´s page (http://www.coujo.de)) and burn in ISO/W mode in DVD decrypter again. If your disk plays in standalone and not in PC it points to wrong ISO9660 filesystem...

I have tried ISO and also have tried the image format and exact same problem. The R disc will not play in any machine. It can not even be read by the drive that wrote it. I have had one work fine but no others, The one that worked was not even the first one. I have used the IMGtool classic and same problem. Even the header of the disc if I am able to get that far is wrong. I am really greatfull for the help.

Thanks

What DVD writer do you own? Did you try another firmware? It looks like hardware problem to me...

Mucuri,Hi,

My guess. I hope you dont mind.

Your problem could be in the burning software. I know that it is quite a nuisance having to do this, but you could try several versions of Nero, until you find one that works for you. Do not neglect to use Nero Cleaner to clean out your registry and reboot, before you install the next version.

I dont mind but i have already tried different versions of nero and other completely different version software from other manufactures so i really feel it is in the drive, I am going to check tomorrow on upgrading the firmware in the drive.

Thank you all who offered support. I tried the new flash and it made things even worse. I finally decided enough is enough. I took the drive back and got the I/O magic mutli media dvd writer. It uses the XP driver and I installed it and now everything works great. So stay away from TDK.

Thanks
