I have now tried four divx movies that i want to convert to CVD using dvd2svcd 1.2.1b3 with cce 2.50. When the movie finishs its been encoded into wide-screen which i dont want i want the normal 4:3. I have selected this option in the "conversion" tab and still it comes up in widescreen. This is driving me crazy as my hard-disk is filling up rapidly so i need to convert them and i cant!Main Concept is not bad but not as good as cce!Has anybody got any idea's?
Thanks in advance

What was the ratio of the original? 16:9 or 4:3? BTW, I edited out your multiple exclamation marks. please read this thread on that topic. (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51632)

Whoops,sorry-just i wait about 5-6hours per movie and they turn out the same, gutted. Anyway the movies are full screen on my computer with no borders, i also opened them with avicodec and it said 4:3 then comes out 16:9 - looks not bad but its all squished up and with borders. Ends up leaving about half the screen.
Any ideas mate?
thanks again, you always seem to answer my questions-nice one ddogg

No need to wait til the encode is finished. Use the preview mode and only encode when it's OK with what you expect.
Also, please read the stickies and at least post your DVD2SVCD log file so we can look at your AviSynth script.

Ya, this has been an issue for awhile see this thread on exactaly the same thing from the last build http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=60734 and here:http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54975.
I just downloaded 1.2.1 b3 and tried all my settings that work just fine from 1.1.3b2. The file was a 16.9 divx file. I used the 16.9 setting on the conversion tab, and it came out squashed. The only way it looked ok is if I selected 4.3. For a 4.3 file, it wants to encode with borders. Here is a copy of my dvd2svcd log from the area I think you wanted. The file listed here is for the 16.9 avi that came out squashed. It is in preview that I can tell that selecting 4.3 will make this encode look good.

Thanks for your time and trouble. This is really not a huge thing as I can always go back to 1.1.3b2, where everything will be fine. I just like to keep my software current, especially this software, as I use it all the time, and this is the first time in over a year I have ever had any problem. My plan is to try again but instaed creat a SVCD to see what happens. In reading various people's troubles with this, it seems creating a CVD has something to do with it.

Well, obviously there is something funny with the borders added by DVD2SVCD. I cannot reproduce your problem because I don't have AVI 16:9 sources. I'm downloading a set from Microsoft right now but it has about 20 hours to go.
On the other thread DVD2SVCD (him) was going to check this. Since he seems not to have given feedback, I don't know if he could reproduce it or not.
On another matter, 4 passes is a waste of resources ;)

It seems to be a CVD thing, if I create a SVCD instead of a CVD, everything seems to be ok. SO I guess I will be making SVCD's for a while, unless I take a stab at editing an avisynth script.
As for the 4 passes, I guess it is a matter of habit more than anything else. I have been doing 4 pass with cce for a long time.:)
Thanks for any help with figuring this out.

Hey all, I was wondering if anybody has figured out what is missing in thelast 2 builds to cause this? With 1.2.1 b3, I can no oonger create a CVD from an AVI. I can create a SVCD with no problems, but the CVDis what has the 16:9 problem. I think I can edit the avisynth file myself, but that is going a little too deep for my computer skills. :)
Anyway, I am ready to post a bug report, but I would hate to if it has already been posted a million times.
Thanks for your time..

Sorry, I had left the download to go unattended and it was done already.
I used a 16:9 (anamorphic) avi, as I understood you did, with build 3 (source had no black bars).
Both CVD and DVD came out full screen, with no borders, whether I selected 4:3 or 16:9 output AR. I only get black bars when I select "16:9 (borders added)".
So I cannot reproduce the problem you're having.
But let's do this:
1. Load the AVI in DVD2SVCD.
2. On the Framserver tab, select AutoFitCD detect borders.
3. Enter preview mode and mark the black bars, if any. Enter FitCD with the AutoFitCD button.
4. You should have the FitCD preview screen with 1:1 source AR. If the source is anamorphic (FitCD cannot tell when source is AVI, neither can DVD2SVCD), select anamorphic in the source.
5. Select the output frame size you want: 1/2 DVD, DVD, SVCD. Encode a small sample and see if it looks correct.
It's important you to encode to see if it is correct, since preview mode in DVD2SVCD does not use the correct AR. (You could use FACAR preview, which does it for NTSC, but FACAR does not support AVI input ARs.)
You can play the sample with a software player. Tell me if this worked for you.
BTW. Be sure you understand by "anamorphic" a 16:9 pixel aspect ratio, which is not the same as a 16:9 display aspect ratio.

First off, thanks for your help, and I apologize for not replying back sooner. A few days after I posted here, I ;left the country for a few months to do some government work in the middle east. I have just returned last week, and this is the first time I have had a chance to come back to my favorite forum. Anyway, I will give your tips a try in the next couple of days and let you know how it worked.
Agagin, thanks so much for all your help!
