I can get them to play, but they are stretched. How can I change this?
Thank you.

You can't. PowerDVD always stretches AVIs in fullscreen mode and there's no way to change that behaviour.
You'll have to use a different player: BS Player, MPC, Zoom Player...

I think WinDVD can play correctly.[not streached in full screen]

If you want a simple, straight forward player for your avi's (DivX, XviD, WMV9 VCM), then maybe the DivX player 2.5 is the one for you!

Cheers

 Strange. MY problem is that PowerDVD 5 does NOT stretch avis any more.

I record avis from PAL-TV with a resolution of 768x288 (to avoid interlacing). Now, up to version 4 of PowerDVD these avis were stretched to full screen size. Power DVD 5 won't do this any more.

Am I stuck with version 4 now? Or is there a workaround for this problem???

You can. :D PowerDVD 5 can, but it's flawed. Go to their site and download the patch for version 5.

I installed this patch and... everything remained the same. No stretching.

Could this be because I use DivX 3.1 and this patch only works with DivX 4/5 ???

Sigh. I never had any problem with PowerDVD 4...

The patch causes you to lose ATI's Theater mode, so beware. Get ZoomPlayer Pro and configure it to play DVDs with the Cyberlink(PowerDVD) filters. ZP's UI is vastly better than PowerDVD and is a great media player. What I especially like is to configure the mouse scroll wheel to advance or retreat thru the file. The control bar is also great in repositioning in the file.
