Hi all. Even though the FAQs in this forum are very comprehensive, it's been some time since they have been updated.
If you are a user of the excellent piece of software DVD2SVCD is, and would like to make a contribution, please feel free to give me your input so I can incorporate your ideas to the FAQs.
Many thanks in advance.

Episode DVD's
2 Approaches have been talked about of late - the VOB joining as per Q41 regardimg joining 2 DVD's, and the encode individually by sividing target disc size by number of episodes inteded to fit, followed by manual authoring, facilitating menus etc (ie with TCSV for (s)vcd or TMPGDA for DVD)
Although the former is mentioned in the faq's it is not mentioned in that context.
I just think it would perhaps be helpful if episode DVD's got a specific mention.

Thanks, Nick. I think that is a very good idea and in fact I plan to use your knowledgeable posts on the matter ;)

you know what id like to see. not enough is really mentioned about dealing with pure interlaced and telecine (or hybrid ewww) sources. dvd2avi is poor at checking for that so to get it right you really have to run the avs through something like virtual dub and manually scan for the 3-2 patterns of noninterlace/interlace (film) frames to know if ivtc is needed or if they are all interlace (video) then to just deinterlace. and if you find some of both through out the vob then your stuck either just doing deinterlace anyway or ivtc anyway or doing a hybrid search in the avs like --
(for mostly film sources...
Telecide(guide=1,gthresh=30)
Decimate(mode=3,threshold=1.0)
and mostly video(pure interlace)...
Telecide(guide=1,gthresh=30)
Decimate(mode=1,threshold=1.0)
as in the decomb guides. i wish d2s had a way to really preview.. like a frame at a time in order.. w/out using any resizing/filters.. so that frame types can be seen. currently (unless there is somehting i missed) you kinda have to make your own .avs once the vobs are on the hd and the d2v is made and run it in vdub yourself. or just encode and find out the hard way , then have to reencode again. and also would be nice if the above decomb modes were presets (i wont even mention the fact fielddeinterlace() isnt natively supported.. hmm.. ok i did ;) )
as far as pal goes , im not that sure about it.. sounds like telecide() takes care of everything interlaced *shrug*

Yes, it's an interesting topic which requires a guide on its own, but some shorcuts might be good pointing out. Thanks a lot, w00kiee.
