I have yet to see an actual solution to this problem in these forums, though it's been raised several times, so I ask it myself...

I'm converting a wedding video 2 hrs in length to AVI with no compression (133 GB AVI), then encoding it to MPEG with CCE. Two-thirds through the production (when the dancing gives way to speaking) I notice the audio is lagging behind the video. It's fine in the AVI file. What's with this? How can it be avoided within CCE, or can it be?

I don't know if your problem is the same as mine was, but here's what I did.

I capture VHS tapes to avi with Pinncale DC10Plus capture card.
The resulting framerate of the captured AVI file was not exactly
29.970. So after encoding with CCE and remuxing, the audio was off
from the video.

I would just extract the audio out of the AVI with VirtualDub
to a wav file then run it through a program called wla.exe
(wave length adjuster) located on doom9.
WLA "O:\org.wav" "L:\new.wav" -r 48000 47997

The compress it with BeSweet to ac3 file and mux it.

Thanks for your suggestion(s) mmgrover. I just ran GSpot on the captured AVI and it reports the bitrate at 29.97, but it also reports a bad AVI header. Now THAT'S inconvenient. I don't know how relevant that information is to the synch problem though.

What model capture card you using?
