Need help desperately - Avi Playback

I have an x-file. I am using an nvidia asylym graphics card with s-video out. Windows 2000. I watch video clips on my tv using media player 9. They display with no problem on the tv screen, however, no video is displayed on the pc in the media player window. It can't be a codec issue, or the video wouldn't display on the tv. I tried rolling back to a prior media player, also tried using sasami2000 and other players. In all situations, the video displays fine in the player window on the tv but no video is displayed in the player window on my pc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Usually, graphics card provide only one overlay surface concurently(which is then outputed via s-video). Have a look at the NVIDIA control panel. There must be some switch to allow both primary and secondary display. I am not sure how this option is called but it's there ;)
