View Full Version : Is there any compatibility issue when making DVD-Video including a PC files folder?

I made a nice DVD-Video in scenarist and used nero 6 to burn it. In Nero I also included a folder in the root directory called "Computer_Files" which contained some pictures and some .pdf manuals.
I tested it in a Sony dvd player and everything was ok. Unfortunatelly when testing it in some other dvd players (some Sony's other model, and a Pioneer 535 (I think)) the dvd didn't play at all.
I reburned the disc without the PC files folder and everything was smooth perfect.
So what was wrong? Is there something I should have done?
Thanks in advance

Maybe the file sorting is the problem. Open the DVD using ISO Buster and check the file sorting in the UDF part of the filesystem...

First the AUDIO_TS folder should come, then the VIDEO_TS folder with all vob, ifo and bup files and then your other files.

Nero 6 has a problem sorting files in UDF part of filesystem but this will be fixed in Nero 6.0.0.20.

Have a look at this discussion:

Ok, let's get it analyzed.
I want to burn my dvd video and I want to include a folder called "computer" which will contain some manuals and pictures and some freeware programs such as acrobat reader.
I have created the same image with two applications,
Scenarist 2.7 using the wizard application type : Enhanced DVD (video files first)

and Nero 6.00.19 using the template DVD-Video

Which one is right so I can burn it. If Scenarist's is the right one, can this image be burned with other applications
I am looking forward to your reply

Simply use the scenarist one.

But shouldn't the folder "computer" be underneath the Video_Ts directory? That was the opinion I got after reading the posts in the links you provided.
In other words shouln't the order be
Audio_ts
Video_ts
Computer

All the DVDs that I have burned (with "extra" stuff on them) have been outside the VIDEO_TS folder. Also checked several commercial DVDs out there and they have lots of different folder names (i.e. "common", "win", "setup", etc.) on the same level as AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS - just pop one into your DVD-ROM and take a look.

I use RecordNow to burn the DVD though so that might make a difference...it came with my Sony DVD burner.

Scenarist a real commercial product for DVD authoring and if this program creates the structure, it should be in right directory order.
