How can I fix the cut point in dvd2svcd to a default of 795megs as opposed to 796. This has been really bother me, why would someone make a cut point where you have to over-burn the cd every single time. Its mind boggling. I searched the forum, the only solution I could come up with is on a rip to rip basis. I want it to be permanent.

Firstly are you sure about this overburn thing?
I normally use default settings without trouble. My CD writer (age old Sony thing) doesn't even support overburn and I not had a single problem with the size of an image file. Well not since a bug was fixed in a version of DVD2SVCD from about 2001!

Secondly it should be easy. If your image file is too big for your CD, reduce the CD size in the Bitrate tab. If you highlight the 800 in the CD size boxes then overtype with 799, this should do the job.

That or I'm misunderstanding your problem...

Im very sure about the overburn thing, it always makes the image file 80 minutes, while cds are mostly 79:57 and below. Im always having to overburn.

Thanks, my burner also overburns. But sometimes near the end of the CD it skips on my dvd player.

This is very unusual. 80 min CDs have 360.000 sectors at least. They are labeled to have 79:5x for secutity reasons but they have usually much more than that. Even 82:30 for some batches and brands.

1 MB size difference translates only in 6 second or so. Your CD should be able to cope with that, and your player too!

Second, DVD2SVCD cut point is 5-MB less that CD size, so you should not be getting 796-MB cut points. There may be other weird thing here.

If your player definitely does not handle a few more secs, and if your version's cut point is 4, reducing the CD size by 1, or using the "real" CD size, 797-MB, which matches perfectly with 79:57-min CDs, as w00kiee says, should fix it.
