In some way's he is right. Matrix 2 is a a fake letter box it's really a 4:3 with black bar's. And the matrix is only a 6.6gig movie they could have push the bitrate a little higher. studio are not give us the best DVD's that they can make. With the extra room that was on the DVD they should have but DTS on. This is not for just the Matrix put all DVD's that we buy.

Even more incredible is that I made a backup and the backup looks better than the original. I don't believe it. What is it? The black lines are gone. Must bee a color issue. Green in the Matrix and Blue in the Terminator. HMM>

I even got a PAL --> to NTSC copy of the same movie. My region is R4.The copy looked to be original with high quality video and crystal clear Dolby Digital @ 384kbps.One thing to cause problem is the default aspect ratio. The DVD was mastered as 4:3,but actually the stream is 16:9.I concluded ripping using RePAL and got a fine rip.I got this film around first week of October.

I bought R2 Matrix Reloaded, it's a 2 disc set, 16:9 anamorphic, amazing audio.
I heard reports that the rental version is not that good though...

After opening Info edit it does and Bitrate Viewer My copy of the Matrix is 16:9. I thought when subtitle's showed up on the bottom black bar it was enooded to 4:3. My mistake

Matrix is 2.35:1, so subtitles are slightly in the black bars, but it's 16:9 anamorphic indeed, good quality but nothing out of the ordinary
