Deinterlacing Filter

Let´s say I´m using the Deinterlacing Filter in Virtual Dub, although the movie isn´t interlaced at all. What would happen to the the final encoded Divx/xvid file?

It depends on which deinterlace filter you are referring to (there are many for VirtualDub) and its settings, neither of which you have told us.
