I'm encoding films with TMPGenc, using the VCD template for speed. When I open the resultant mpg file in TMPG DVD Author it tells me the GOP structure is incorrrect. I'm only sort of understand that, but it never used to tell me that. It did used to be fine. WHat should I do?

Why would you use a VCD template to make a DVD file?

Allan_SA,
If you use KVCD template which produce a very long non-standard GOP, and of course TMPGEnc DVD Author will complaint. I would ignore it. They did play fine on my 3 standalone (Sampo, Apex, Norcent). That's my experience with KVCD template using TMPGEnc DVD Author to author. The only thing I know, is that I have to use a 29.97 frame rate instead of 23.97 frame rate that most Mpeg1's KVCD template prefer. The Mpeg2's KVCD templates are OK as is.
But if you use other templates, then I don't know. Just try to ignore it, and found out?!!

Use KDVD templates, which are 100% DVD compliant.

I always encode and capture @ 15maxGOP/3p
The P frames and max number of GOP has to divisable by one another.
Cheers.
Also theres a limit in DVD spec,18 frames in a GOP.
