I recently purchased a new burner to replace my Pioneer A05 I had been borrowing. It work flawlessly in Nero 5.9.9.9 for me, but my new LG 4040B drive doesn't seem to be detected by Nero.
I've run the Drivespeed and Info tools, and the drive read correctly, all the right modes are there, but in the Nero ROM, I can't select it, and I don't have a Nero disk so I can't run the scanning utility.
I didn't have this problem with the Pioneer, and I've since "upgraded" to Nero 5.5.5.14 to see if that helped, but no luck. What's the trick here? I liked using Nero for burning DVD's, it worked great.
HELP!

I fixed the problem myself by installing yet another 5.5 version, 54, and it finally deteced it.
The only new problem ( hopefully I can figure this one out as well ) is that the drive is said to be a 4x DVD-R write, and Nero will only burn it at 2.4x, which is junk, since I bought the burner, and 4x media for a reason.
*Update*
Instant CD/DVD also will only allow for 2X burning, as the driver for it isn't in their list, only one for the 4020B. I also noticed in Infotool for Nero the max write speed after its check is only 2x, but it is detecing the right model number of my drive, which should write at 4x. The firmware edition is A300.
HELP!!

Ok, first read this (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/46206) tread and then D/L firmware update for your burner over here (http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1628).

that's what I figured after searching around a bit, and since I already have 4 spindles of 4x Princo white tops, I just returned the drive and got the Pioneer A06, which has no problems burning on the Princo media at 4x. I think all in all its just a better drive anyways, and it was only another $25.
My LG did have the A300 firmware, and wouldn't burn on another brandless DVD I had at 4x, so it had to go. Kudos to Pioneer for turning out a drive that works really well.
Thanks for the links though.
