I've been reading up. Trying to find the solution to my problem. Spent most of yesterday looking for why the DVD file when I use DVD2AVI TMPGEnc and the file is large, but when I re-encode it, it goes from 1.1 gig to 400 meg's. The quality remains the same, and it does do what I want. But I would rather just encode it once. Can someone point me at something I missed? I've looked into all the guides here that I thought would give me an answer, but couldn't find the solution

Say what? What do you wan't to encode just once. Please be more specific.

Okay, I am making Anime DVD's. I'm encoding it from DIVX using AVI2DVD using autofitcd as well. When I encode it the first time, the mpg2 file is over a gig. But when I re-encode it using this other program I have that came with my DVD burner (Showbiz it's called), the quality is the same, and it's 400 megs or less.

I can't find any guides that tell me how to use AVI2DVD and have it come out smaller. I've tried making it a SVCD, but then it comes out all wierd... for some reason.

The encoder I use is TMGPEnc

Ok, I know this is very confusing, but this forum is the DVD2AVI forum and has nothing to do with mpeg2 encoding directly. That is why your previous post was closed. We have all these dvd2somethings around which confuse newer members. That can cause havoc, and worse it causes hakko504 a major migraine to try to move 'em all over the place. You may want to ask in the dvd2svcd forum if that is what you mean by avi2dvd, else try the other mpeg encoders or the svcd/vcd encoding and authoring forum. Also, you need to try to be much more setailed in your questions as you have to remember we all are not at your machine. When in doubt add too much detail. Nobody will get upset about that.

Since half the posts here concerns DVD2SVCD and the other half is about any other dvd2avi (note small letters) application, I have given up on trying to move posts to their correct location and just close them.
