Hi all,

Whilst trying to append two avi movies (already encoded) I am getting an error when trying to add the second avi. I'm using a direct stream copy for the 1st file, then trying to add ther 2nd.

error reads:
"Cannot append segment: the video streams have different data formats"

I encoded these two files straight after each other, ie: exact same settings, using DivX 5.1 and audio Fraunhofer mp3 @ 192kbps. As oppose to the other problem in this forum, slighty further down the threads, both files are identical in terms of colour depth, and a/v codecs. Only difference is the video bitrate..one being at 871kbps(yes thats right, only 1min 44sec file) and the other being at 258kbps

I've already tried re-encoding both files from original dvd source, no success..

Any help muchly appreciated.

Cheers,
Tobes.

Increase the bitrate of second file to 600+.Then again is a failure, try to append to OGM/MKV(intermediate file) and then re-convert this to avi,all using VDM.

Does AVI-Mux GUI append those files?

This is a known problem and has been discussed several times, please use the search function before posting!

I dis do a search before posting the question and also just looked through many of the threads...

Still have not solved it, so I am attemping to just use DVD2AVI to string all the .vob files together to get the desired result.

I'm quite certain that the audio will be out of sync though because of different audio delay times...i'll keep my fingers crossed though...

I encoded it with all the .vob's stuck together..produced one audio stream which is a perfect sync with the video. I guess sometimes crossing your fingers does work ;)

Thanks for the help though guys. :p:
