I found nowhere any solution, so I give a try here:
I want to enode my TV redordings with CQ.
Does anyone knows a possibility to split the file automatically (or with a batch-file?!) into pieces, so that each part is just as big as CD-Size and the last just as big as needed?
With such a tool, there would be no need to worry anymore about file size in CQ-Mode, it takes just as much CDs as needed with the choosen quality. No trial and error splitting anymore.

Either encode your movie separately (m1v/m2v and mp2) or demux your audio and video. Then use bbMPEG to mux your file and set it to split at the size you want. The only problem with this is, you don't get a split file at a point you want, but hey, if you don't care. Give it a shot.

See http://www.boilsoft.com/videosplitter/ but this not freeware. Split MPEG-1 and MPEG-2. I try many times split on 3 80 min CD and not have problem.
With kind regards yup

Thank you very much for your hints.
I find bbmpeg nearly perfect, but it is difficult to make an overlap between the splitted mpgs.
In between, I found another program, which works with Linux and windows.
It is is commandline based and works with me with a mpeg2 encoded file by tmpgenc.
You can give ranges in MB as parameters and the program splits the mpgeg-file in the parts you needed.
(e.g. mpgtx -s inputfile.mpg [-735M] [730M-] -b outputname.mpg
produces two mpgegs: 1st from the beginning until a size of 735MB which fits on CD one and a 2nd wich starts at 730MB of inputfile.mpg includes all the rest.
The two file shows the same part of the video with a size of about 5MB)
With this, no estimation of file size in CQ-mode ist needed any longer.
