The question is how to demux the ac3/dts 5.1 to WAV(or any other formats) and then convert toHE-AACwith correct channel mapping?I tried Besweet/AAC machine etc,all helped to create stereo HE-AAC only. Can anyone explain in detail to trancode 5.1ac3/dts to 5.1HE-AAC.I think at this moment this question will be in mind of most of quality enthusiastic people.

Is I need Nero Wave editor to convert 5.1HE-AAC,or is there any other utility for this?

PS:I have had a look to other threads on neroac3 plugin......but i could not understand how this is done. And I don't know how to demux the ac3/dts to 6 channels.

Can anyone help me?

I think you should've posted that in the Audio Encoding forum, but maybe a moderator can move the thread. Here we go:

1. Use BeSweet / azidts to decode your AC3 to a 5.1 (= 6) channel AIFF file.

e.g.:

besweet -core( -input in.ac3 -output out.aiff -6chaiff -logfile BeSweet.log ) -azid( -c normal -g max ) -ota( -d delay ) -shibatch( --rate 44100 )

or

azidts -manualch -core( -input in.dts -output out.aiff -6chaiff -logfile BeSweet.log ) -ota( -d delay -g max ) -shibatch( --rate 44100 )

If you prefer to use the GUI you have to check output to 6chaiff, choose a type of dynamic range compression and downsample to 44.1 kHz (that is best done in BeSweet already).

2. Start up Nero Burning ROM and make sure your version is >= 6.0.0.15 (channel mapping was fixed in that version). In 'extras' menu choose 'encode files'. Click on add files and choose your AIFF files you generated in the first step. Then go to the AAC plugin settings. Select 128 kBit CBR or 'internet' or 'streaming' VBR profile. Select profile HE. Encode. You end up with MP4 files that can be muxed directly with the video and mkvmerge 0.7.0 to MKV.

Have fun!

yes, i've noticed that thread.
aac is indeed not a new standard, the LC profile is here for a VERY long time. what's new are tools like nero's encoder or CoreAAC. but even those tools are based on good old ivan's aacenc & menno's faad.

Cheers,
Dg.

This is why I suggested that it might be time to re-structure the forum headings altogether: -

I have a newbie question: do you just create a mp4 files or also ask nero to export an iso 18318-7 AAC track? I ask you this 'cause the aac track is the only way I found to mux audio in MKVmerge GUI (that doesn't accept mp4 "original" file created by nero). Are you using CLI? Does it accept mp4 files?

Thx :)

Three days after quoting this thread,i managed to create and playback 5.1HEACC.Thanks to DSP guru for combining BSN in the latest BeSweetPackage. With the exception that this has a commandline interface,BSN/BeSweet is THE choice for good quality AAC encoding.

Look to this thread for more:here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=381808#post381808)

Bye

I don't know how DSPGuru did it, but he has obviously again done his magic and provided a new tool to play with.

As always, thanks Dg.
