Ripped me a copy of "Texas chainsaw massacre", using GordianKnot. Was a cut version but the DVD had the extended scenes as bonus clips on it. Ripped those as well. Now I have one large AVI and several short clips, all encoded with same codecs (DivX5/mp3) and resolution.

Task at hand now is merging these clips back into the main movie. Requires cropping away the remains of the censored scenes and pasting in the uncensored ones, I guess.

What's a good freeware program for that kind of thing? Nandub/Virtualdub doesn't work, can cut on key frames only.

Any hint appreciated.

there will be no other solution than reencoding the affectet parts of the video.

You can only cut on keyframes!


(Best solution would IMHO be, to rip the VOBs from DVD to HDD, load the clips into avisynth and using trim() to join them into avisynth together and doing then th encoding process.)

Answer to self: Uncompressed AVI! Perfect, frame-by-frame editing with seamless results, requiring nothing but VirtualDub/Nandub.
