Heya,
I'm no computer expert or anything so be patient with me :P
I was just thinking, the next CPU I buy is going to be that new AMD 64 bit chip. Along that will obviously come WinXP 64 bit.
But I'm curious, do the GK developers have any plans for releasing a 64 bit compilation of GK, just to boost the performance and compatibility.
Like I said, I'm not computer expert, so I'm unsure about a few things, would the DivX codec have to be 64 bit aswell and things like that? I can only see good things coming from a migration like that. :D

Cheers
- Tim

Hello, and welcome to the forum. Gknot is an integrated suite of programs with a GUI wrapper. It's a helpful GUI, to be sure, but only a wrapper. The brute force encoding work is done with other software, such as BeSweet, Nandub, and VirtualDubMod, and of course, the codecs you choose to use.

In the General Discussion forum, there is a thread (http://http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62092&highlight=bit) already started about DivX and the AMD 64 you may have missed. I think it will be helpful reading, if you haven't seen it yet.

Your question is better suited to the Gordian Knot Development forum (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=70), so I am moving it there.

As jggimi said GK is just a gui, so as long as you can run all other progs it's calling on 64bit plaform, you'll be fine.

DivX has already announced a 64-bit specific version that they're working on for the AMD. Dunno about Avisynth.
