Well this is nice. Thanks Doom9 and all others responsible.

Will I be correct in thinking that as the days go by. All Ogg and Matraska posts will be moved here?

Cheers

EDIT
As I speak this section is rapidly filling up with old threads!!!!
It's like a David Blaine thing!

check the number of posts here now ;) Took me quite some time to sort through all the threads.. hopefully the moving decisions were mostly correct.. sometimes it's rather hard to judge by the thread title.

Hi Doom9

May I ask what prompted you to do this, in the end?

Anymore surprises in store....

Hang on, whats this? Something new has appeared in the Hardware & Software section!!

yup nice idea

i think this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53313 would be better in the codecs section...

We probably need a thread in the 'Announcements and Chat' section to discuss what should and should not go in each section..... If you know what I mean!

I wonder if the DivX5 and DivX3/4 sections will be joined together. As there does not seem to be much activity in the DivX3/4 section!

Cheers

I checked my stats... new A/V format had the highest number of posts in the last 3 months and there's currently a lot of industry activity in that area.. with AAC HE, upcoming H.264 codecs and new MPEG-4 codecs like NeroDigital.

For now that's it but the next time I check stats maybe there will be a merger to compensate for the enlargements.. unfortunately there are a number of necessary forums that have a low number of posts and threads (suggestions, translations and the like).

this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=378086#post378086) (very important/interesting for upcoming mp4 container!!!) also belongs to container forum...

Nice split! But the typo "New A/V formats" is bugging me - there's something not quite symmetrical about the list of fora.
