I apologize to the forum and the moderators for my post yesterday about joining VOB clips. After I read 2COOL's reply, I re-read what I had written and realized that, had I not known what I really wanted to say, I would have been hard pressed to understand what the text was describing and asking. Please close the thread, destroy it or post it as a sticky on "how not to ask for help."

Let me try again:

I have two files: A.Vob and B.VOB. I demuxed each file into Cell ID's with VOBEdit and chose one cell from each to work on: A_001.VOB and B_006.VOB. Let's say that A_001.VOB has the following video sequences A1-A2-A3-A4-A5-A6, and similarly for B_006.VOB, B1-B2-B3-B4-B5-B6. I want to make a new VOB file let's say C.VOB that consists of the sequence A4-A5-A6-B2.

Now comes the catch. I want to preserve the 6ch ac3 audio. I can do what I want to do video-wise in Nero 6. Although, I have installed the plug-in to Nero that's supposed to encode 6 channel sound, I have not yet gotten that to work. I also use DVD Lab because it passes through 6ch sound.

So far I have been able to extract, using my example, A4-A5-A6 into a useable VOB file. I did that using EasyVDGUI ver 4.51. I can get a file, containing sequence B2, that plays on POWERDVD but I cannot manipulate it in any application. The only thing I can do is "look" at it in VOB Edit. Whenever I try anything else, I get the message "Maybe you have an invalid VOB file."

[Original paragraph removed an this inserted by Farmer Dan]

When I open the "parent" cell, in this case B_006.VOB The first three lines are:
000000 [Navigation Pack] [VOB: 1] [Cell....](can't see anything else)
000001 [Video Pack] [GOP], [I] 7ec
000002 [AC3-Audio Pack] 0x80 [Points 70124....](can't see more)

The corresponding lines from the sequence B2, the invalid file are:
000000 [Video Pack], 7ec
000001 [Video Pack], 7ec
000002 [Video Pack], 7ec

Both files continue on with audio and video packs.
[End of editing]

My specific question is, "Am I able to produce a viable VOB file from my sequence B2 which I extracted from a cell?" Derrow wrote a guide that transcodes various "complete" cells into a "new" VOB. I'm trying to do the same thing with an "incomplete" cell. Am I able to manually enter the information I need to create a good file, or are there things in IFOEdit and VOBEdit that I can do to acheive my goal?

As I said before, I know I can extract what I want from the VOB files in my editing software. But the audio will be re-encoded to 2ch and I want to maintain 6ch. I also know that I can run this 2ch audio through BeSweet and create what I call "fake" 6ch. However, I would like to further explore operating on the actual VOB file to increase my knowlege of how they are put together.

Inserting your B_006.vob in vobedit and demuxing will give you the audio and video of it.

Insert in the timeline of Maestro the video, trim the start and end of it until u get the portion u want.
Right click on the audio and 'Create sync Audio' for the portion of the video.

This way u will have both parts of your goal, so u can build the title set that would give u a usable vob.

Sorry, but I don't know the values u have to use to make your cell fragment a compatible vob file. This is just another approach to your problem.

Thanks, Oddyseus. I'll try that.

At least I'll save the 6ch. My "problem," right now, is that I'm fascinated by all the info I find in IFO Edit. I tend to get side-tracked from my goal of creating a DVD.

Thanks again.
